(Lead) Mechanical Engineer
Design and Manufacturing of Humanoid Robotic Hands

We give industry workers a helping hand for tedious manual labour tasks and mitigate labour shortages with a versatile automation platform. We are looking for a key mechanical engineer to drive the design and manufacturing of our robotic hand hardware platform from concepts and early-stage prototypes all the way to scaling manufacturing.
Responsibilities

Develop concepts and mechanisms for robotic hands, build your own prototypes, quickly test and validate your ideas

Advanced CAD design, taking full ownership of parts and assemblies

Improve hardware designs with regards to design for manufacturing and assembly

Manage suppliers and manufacturing partners including component and process documentation and guiding final in-house assembly, constantly improving manufacturing procedures

Reliability and lifetime testing of your systems, developing appropriate test set-ups and methods

Requirement engineering, working with other engineering disciplines, keeping an overview of features and priorities
Requirements
-
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from a top university
-
Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of industry experience or master’s degree + 3 years of industry experience.

Strong foundation and experience in CAD design including managing complex assemblies with hundreds of parts

The ability to switch in between working modes for quick and dirty testing and validating of concepts and rigorous perfectionism in engineering and documenting details for releases
-
You have worked in an environment close to manufacturing where you have gathered hands-on experience in designing, manufacturing, assembling and testing mechatronic systems

Experience in managing suppliers and manufacturing partners including process documentation

Extensive 3D printing expertise with an understanding of different processes (FDM, SLS, SLA) and their design requirements

Fluent in English
Nice To Have
-
Experience in developing high DoF systems like robotic hands, grippers or arms

You have worked along the entire development process of a hardware product from concept to series manufacturing.

First experience with cable or tendon driven mechanisms

Experience with casting methods, laser cutting, CNC machining, and material selection (polymers)

Experience working in highly agile, multidisciplinary tech teams for example in a start-up or scale-up

First experience in guiding other team members or in a technical leadership role

Knowledge of product certification processes

Experience in FEM simulations and topology optimization

German language skills
